Woman Teacher Sentenced To 10 Year Jail: Chandigarh District Court on 2 November sentenced a woman teacher to 10 years of imprisonment for sexually abusing a 14 year old boy who was her tuition student. The court also imposed a fine of Rs10,000 on the culprit.
The Woman Teacher Was Arrested in 2018:
The teacher was arrested by the Chandigarh Police on May 24, 2018 on the complaint filed by the boy’s parents after registering a case under Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. The crime got registered after the child revealed the crime.
Both Tutor & Student Were Known To Each Other:
As per media reports, the families of the teacher and boy were known to each other so the boy and his sister had started taking tuitions from the woman teacher in September 2017. After sometime, the woman asked the child’s parents to send their daughter and son separately for the tuitions so that she can focus on their son’s studies. But, when the parents did that, the teacher started sexually abusing the boy.
Although, the criminal teacher was awarded 10 years of imprisonment but there arises a question on the safety of men also. Cases of sexual abuse of men are increasing rapidly in our country but get neglected and there is hardly any outrage on this crime.
