Joe Biden Wins: Will become 46th president of the United States

Joe Biden Wins: Joe Biden is now projected to have 284 Electoral College votes, the Associated Press (AP) news agency said on Saturday, above the threshold needed to clinch the hard-fought United States presidential election.

Kamala Harris will be the first woman Vice President of the United States of America.

Kamala Harris has made history as the first Black woman to become vice president, an achievement that comes as the U.S. faces a reckoning on racial justice.

The California senator, who is also the first person of South Asian descent elected to the vice presidency, will become the highest-ranking woman ever to serve in government, four years after Trump defeated Hillary Clinton.

Joe Biden Wins: Democrat’s victory came after more than three days of uncertainty as election officials sorted through a surge of mail-in votes that delayed the processing of some ballots. Joe Biden crossed 270 Electoral College votes with a win in Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile, the incumbent President Donald Trump did not immediately acknowledge the AP’s projection and his campaign has vowed to challenge the result, particularly in the states of Georgia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Michigan.

Joe Biden, who is turning 78 at the end of November, will become the oldest president when he is inaugurated in January in the midst of the worst public health crisis in 100 years, the deepest economic slump since the 1930s and a national reckoning on racism and police brutality that is still unresolved.

The Republican leader’s campaign announced plans to seek a recount in Wisconsin and filed lawsuits to suspend the vote counts in several states.
