Congress leaders at the CWC meeting at AIIC Headquarters, New Delhi

Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal announced at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting held in New Delhi at the AICC headquarters on Saturday that the election of new Congress president will be held between August 21-September 20, 2022. He also told that the election of PCC presidents, vice presidents, treasurers, PCC executives & AICC members will be held between Jul 21-Aug 20, 2022.

During press conference Venugopal said, “We’re going for a massive training program from top to bottom. Workers & leaders at all levels will be trained in party ideologies, policies, expectations of a Congress worker, grassroots messaging, election management, failure of present govt & countering propaganda”.

“The disastrous policies of the Modi government have worsen the situation and have placed enormous burdens on the people of the country. CWC has decided that Congress will undertake mass agitation and awareness program named “Jan Jagran” at ground level across country between Nov 14-29 on price rise”, he added.

On the other hand, after the CWC meeting, senior Congress leader, Ambika Soni told the media on being asked that will Rahul Gandhi become the president of the party, “Everybody agreed unanimously, whether he (Rahul Gandhi) will become (the party president) or not is up to him. Everybody is of the opinion that Rahul Gandhi should become the party president.”

Last month, Indian Youth Congress had also passed a resolution demanding Rahul Gandhi should be made the president of the party again. Rahul resigned from the president post of the party after the defeat in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
